Subtle Ankh

Lighting is a bitch.

Normally my nails have enough contrast to get the point across in the sub-optimal lighting I have access to, but the silver on the shiny lilac color is subtle enough that I spent about four times longer than usual trying to get the lighting right (no shadow, minimal reflection, still enough light for a good picture).  I finally decided what I had was as good as I was going to get, and then tweaked the levels a bit in post so you can see the colors better.

I’d do more photography if 1) I had a camera with a manual focus (will be fixed soon), and 2) the lighting and potential backdrops in my apartment didn’t suck so badly.

Comic Cats: Catwoman

After a couple of days off from the Marvel Cats and DC Cats memes, I decided to return to them tonight.

In the handful of tweets using #dccats, I spotted this:

Brad_Duncan: @beckadoodles would a kitten catwoman be too surreal? #dccats

No, I decided.  No it would not.

I don’t normally go in for elaborate backgrounds, but this time after figuring out how the kitty was sitting, I realized she really needed something to sit on, and it just seemed natural that Catwoman would be sitting at the top of a building at night, particularly when she’s actually a cat.

Kitty attacks camera

I totally did not intend to post a video today, but when I got home, the cat was just posing for the camera. Of course by the time I got the camera, she wouldn’t sit still.  Then she started attacking. So I turned the video on.

Since the camera in hand was the DV still cam, the quality isn’t great, but it’s cute regardless.
